Q: How was My Genes Fit started?
A: Candice Harris Belfer is a 36 year old entrepreneur who had battled obesity throughout her life and dealt with bulling her entire childhood into early adulthood but made some significant changes to her life to become the success she is today.
Now in an effort to pay it forward she is telling her difficult yet triumphant life story to youth to give hope and inspiration and motivate them to take hold of their lives, make smart choices and cherish themselves and others. The My Genes Fit program is about bullying and also is an awareness campaign and movement tied to Obesity giving it a voice and a color – GOLD.
She shared her vision with two business woman – Susan Belfer and Michele Fischthal who feel passionate about this initiative and collectively have 20+ years of experience driving strategies, marketing communication, and training programs and giving a voice to large and small organizations and together this trio will help make a difference one child at a time. Today we have a program where Candice along with a bully specialist from Prevention First will come to your school with her simple message of perseverance, hard work, love and support can foster change to rid our schools, homes and playgrounds of bullying.
Q: What is the mission statement of My Genes Fit?
A: Our mission at My Genes Fit is to inspire, equip and empower our youth with a unique educational movement to stamp out bullying across the United States. This movement will simultaneously take what is the disease of Obesity and give it a voice along with a color – GOLD. Our program encourages children to make smart choices, embrace difference, respect yourself and others creating a positive cultural shift of diversity and inclusion. We believe that with honest real stories of pain and perseverance and a personal toolkit our children, communities, schools, parents and businesses can make a conscious choice to do the right thing and make this world a much happier, healthier peaceful and safer place to live.
Q: What are your organizational goals/objectives?

- Create a safe and community based learning program where all students can be part of the movement to drive awareness on bullying
- Providing the disease of Obesity a voice and color – GOLD
- Re-establishing civility in schools and homes by delivering proactive real life stories of violence and bullying.
- Improve academic achievement and confidence by engaging students' hearts and minds
- Provide students with social/emotional education and toolkit that embraces the differences of others providing a voice for those that struggle with all aspects of bullying (e.g. obesity, color, sexual orientation)
- Inspire our children to embrace differences
- Guiding communities (children, peers, teachers) to respect yourself and others by making smart choices
